"I want the Rape of Nanking
to  penetrate to public
consciousness.  Unless we
truly understand how these
atrocities can happen, we
can't be certain that it won't happen again."

The 2006 Iris Chang Memorial Essay Contest  award ceremony will take place at the Nanjing Ji : Commemoration of the 69th Anniversary Of Nanjing Massacre  -  南京祭 in December.    The top three winners of the Contest will be honored at the event.  We are grateful to The Rape of Nanking Redress Coalition for their kind co-sponsorship for the awards ceremony this year.

Nanjing Ji is an annual commemoration held in San Francisco, California.   It honors and pays tribute to the many innocent individuals who suffered and died during the Rape of Nanking.  It is also a remembrance of other victims who perished in the brutalities committed by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.  Genocide survivors, human rights activists, community leaders and the general public will gather at this event to pay tribute to the victims, demand reconciliation and reparation from the Japanese government, and renounce violence and advocate for peace throughout the world.  This year,  the Nanjing Ji is co-sponsored by
The Rape of Nanking Redress Coalition, The  Global Alliance for Preserving the History of WW II in Asia, and The Association for Preserving the Truth of the Sino-Japanese War.

Please join us for a significant event pursuing world peace and justice.
